I keep seeing everyone’s blind spot movie choices for the year, specifically Ruth and Anna, and I decided to make a list for myself considering there so many movies out there I still haven’t seen. This series reminds me of when I was in college, in which I majored in English and everyone would ask, even to this day, have you read this book or that book, assuming I have because of my major. Do you guys know how many classic books are out there? It is virtually impossible to be able to have read every single book. Same goes for movies because even though we are movie lovers, we haven’t seen them all.
My goal is to cross these off my list and finally see them.
1. Cinema Paradiso (duh because of T9M) (1988)
2. Fanny and Alexander (1982)
3. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975)
4. Amelie (2001)
5. Snatch (2000)
6. Punch Drunk Love (thanks Anna for the suggestion) (2002)
7. The King of Comedy (one of my dad’s favorites) (1982)
8. Lolita (1962)
9. Blazing Saddles (been meaning to see this for eons) (1974)
10. Fantastic Mr. Fox (only Anderson one I haven’t seen) (2009)
11. La Dolce Vita (1960)
12. The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (hellllo Brad Pitt!) (2008)
Which ones of these have you seen and love?

Some great movies ahead of you! I love Fantastic Mr. Fox, Blazing Saddles, and Amelie! Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on them.
Thanks Keith, looking forward to them. Glad I got your good vote on these.
You’re really going to find nos. 1, 3, 7 & 9 supreme viewing experiences, and as an Englishman, I am supposed to know the dialogue of no.5 off by heart.
This is my most anticipated movie of 2015:

Cheers!
Thanks! Yes you should definitely be able to talk like those guys. Looking forward to them and I will let you know my thoughts once I see them.
Curious Case is my favorite David Fincher Film. It’s unlike ones he has done before, but it still feels and looks like a David Fincher Film. Punch Drunk Love is great and Sandler gives one of his best performances ever. Damn Im excited to read your thoughts on these
Awesome! Thanks Vern, see this is why these were must sees for me, I have heard so many great things about them and saddened/embarrassed I never got around to seeing them.
Nice work lady 🙂 We have two films in common on this list hehehehe! Cannot wait to see what you think of these!
Awesome I need to check out your list, in fact I need to get caught up on your whole blog. So when you see my comment storm, you know I have arrived. 🙂 Here’s to watching good ones in 2015!
It’s coming up over tomorrow I reckon hahaha. Ooooh, can’t wait! 😀
Sounds good I will check it out Z woman!
Oh my gosh, so many great films here. My number one favourite is La Dolce Vita so I hope you love it too!
After I saw your list I thought I need to do one too! That’s great I have always heard it was a fantastic movie and one of those that just is a cinematic classic. I will let you know what I think, I trust you so I am sure I will like it!
I loved Amelie and Fantastic Mr. Fox, both great movies!
Thank you! Glad I got some good thoughts on these.
I have only just watched Cinema Paradiso as it was my Resolution for Cara’s series but it’s great. I also loved Snath, Fantastic Mr Fox, Amelie and One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest. I wasn’t as keen on Punch Drunk Love but it’s worth watching for one of Adam Sandler’s very rare good performances.
Glad you liked most of these and yes after I saw Cinema Paradiso on your blog, I knew I had to add that one in too! Thanks Abbi!
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest is FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANTASTIC!!!!!
YAY I got an IPC hit!! #woohoo
whatchoo talking about? I come out here all the time!
#ballersforlife
I meant I picked an IPC hit… you always show me love I know that! 🙂 #webballers
: )))))))))))))))))))
The King of Comedy is absolutely brilliant! Enjoy!
Adam.
Thanks Adam!
Weird, I was just emailing Brad about how much I completely loathe Fantastic Mr. Fox. But I can heartily recommend One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Blazing Saddles, Snatch, and Benjamin Button was decent.
I would think any Anderson would annoy you, so yes I could see why you probably hated it. Glad you like other ones… wait Brian liked something????????????????
I like you!
OMG! Brian likes you! That’s it… I’m jealous. He hates me. But, yay! Cinema Paradiso! People are FINALLY watching that (thanks to me, I guess). 😉 I can’t believe you’ve not seen One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest. One of the best movies ever. You’ll love it. 🙂
Great stuff, dahling Mel! I LOVE LOVE Cinema Paradiso, I even bought the Bluray. Amelie is enchanting, and I quite enjoyed Fantastic Mr. Fox. Haven’t seen Benjamin Button either, but you know how I feel about Pitt. I do love miss Blanchett though.
Sorry I am just responding, yesterday was a weird hectic day with a million things happening, come on world, I need to respond to my blogger friends leave me alone! I cannot wait to see Cinema Paradiso, that is the one I am most excited about for sure. I will let you know how the Button movie is, we will have to see, but I have a feeling it will be good. Aww Mr. Pitt gets no love from Ruth!
Hey I’d be happy to lend you Cinema Paradiso Blu-ray if you like, but I think it’s also on Netflix. It’s such an enchanting tale of friendship as well as love story, I think you’d like it! Ahah, well I respect him as a producer but he just doesn’t do it for me as an actor. ‘Button’ is also a very long movie, so that’s another reason 🙂
Thanks Ruth I am going to check tonight. I checked Amazon instant video last night and it wasn’t on there, which is surprising, so I will check out Netflix next. Can’t wait! I’m sorry to hear you don’t care for him. I don’t mind Brad, plus he is nice to look at, and I am going to take a wild guess but I bet he doesn’t do it for you?
Yikes! Aren’t I bad a little movie fan…I’ve only seen two of these: Snatch and Benjamin Button. Huh. Just occurred to me those are the two Brad Pitt films on here. I never even realized I was such a fan! Lol. Snatch is fun–pretty much a Brit version of Ocean’s Eleven. Benjamin Button is good, too. Just not one I really care to watch a lot, you know? Anyway, I hope you enjoy all of these! Can’t wait to see what you think! 🙂
Yes I hope so too. Thanks Cara! Like I said in my post, it is just impossible to be able to have seen every great movie out there, just like books. You were an English major too right? I still have never finished Moby Dick.
LOL. Yes, I was, and yes, Moby Dick is painful to read. I legit read, like, a solid third, maybe even half of the book. I skimmed the rest…
Definitely skim worthy.. by the end you don’t even know what you read, but you heard it was good. lol
Bahaha exactly!!
What a great idea. Hadn’t heard of this idea before. It was initially my plan to cross off a lot of movies I haven’t seen last year when I tried to watch 365 in 365 days. This seems a tad more manageable.
I’ve only seen 4 on that list. Snatch, Benjamin, Amelie and Mr. Fox. All very good films in their own right.
I will put my list up in the next few days once I have given it some though. I have some absolutely shocking omissions on my ‘watched’ list. Those standard films you mention and the response is usually, “WHAT?! How have you not seen The Godfather yet?!… and yet that same person will walk in the following day and proclaim how good ‘Green Street’ was.
Thanks! Glad you liked the idea too and you should definitely do a list. I picked 12 so one a month and that is very doable. Look forward to your list and yes I have seen the Godfather, thank goodness or you could get persecuted. haha
I’ve seen half of these – 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, & 12. You’re in for some real treats. I’m kinda “meh” on 4 and 12, but I really love the rest. Hard to pick a fave among them. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on these.
I’ve seen most, but it strikes me what a varied list of movies this makes, kind of awesome.
Thanks Jay!
Some of my faves here – definitely check out The King of Comedy and One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest.
I haven’t seen the majority of these but the ones I have seen, Amelie, Snatch and Punch Drunk Love, the first two I like quite a bit 🙂 Especially Amelie, its awesome!
