Hello friends, I feel like I have been gone for so long. My last favorites post and movie review I did was in January (GEEZ) not counting the one I just posted the other day. I have had quite a lot of ups and downs recently, with my family, my mother’s health and my own health as well. For months, no one could diagnose what my mom had, they thought it was so many different things (scary things), saw so many doctors, had so many tests, was on disability and finally as of last week found out what she has and they can treat her (thank goodness). Going through that with her has left me really stressed out. I am okay too, I have had some issues that I am trying to get resolved and finally getting what I need to get better (woo hoo) as of last week. I have had zero energy to do much other go to work and come home and do the same thing all over again. I am finally starting to get back on the horse and get back to watching movies and doing what I love on here. But life happens and things are getting better and I am thankful for that. Ok that was pretty personal, but I wanted to share it because I know you guys won’t judge me.
Well I have still been watching my shows and wanted to share with you my favorites. Also, I’ll be going to Comic Con next week and I will be posting about my adventures and sharing some fun photos.
And here’s a picture of a cute puppy because he’s just too cute not to share.
Wayward Pines: Season 1 (Fox)
Wayward Pines stars Matt Dillon and yes he’s back! I feel like I haven’t seen him in anything for years, so it’s good to see him back in action. The show centers around Dillon as Ethan Burke, a secret service agent who has gone to look for two missing agents. He gets in a car accident and awakens in a small town. He remembers nothing and doesn’t know how he got there. When he asks the nurse at the hospital for a phone, he is denied. It’s like they know something he doesn’t and they will not let him in on the secret. On the outside the town of Wayward Pines looks idyllic, like a perfect town in a movie, everyone is happy and helpful towards Ethan, so much that it seems strange. He runs into one of the agents, his former mistress Kate (Carla Gugino) and partner at work, she acts like nothing ever happened and goes along with her business. He comes to find out that he cannot leave, when he tries, he just goes in circles. He knows something sinister is going on and he aims to find out. The show starts out really fun, towards the end it got kinda slow, but it has picked up. If you are in the mood for a mystery, this is a good show to watch.
Hannibal: Season 3 (NBC)
Ugh, I just love Hannibal, I don’t know what it is about this show, but every season leaves me wanting more. The first season had episode titles with French dishes, the second with Japanese and this season brings fine, Italian dishes. I won’t give too much spoilers. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) is now in Italy with Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier (Gillian Anderson) feigning to be a prominent Italian couple, one who are educated in art and literature. Of course Hannibal can pull that off without blinking. On the hunt for Hannibal is Will Graham (Hugh Darcy) and Abigail Hobbs (Kacey Rohl) back from the horrific incident that happened last season. The show has really heated up and is always delicious to watch. By the way did you hear the rumors that they are cancelling the show?!!! #savehannibal
Orange is the New Black: Season 3 (Netflix)
It just came out last week and I already finished it. I have to admit I don’t think it was OMG one of my favorite things to watch this month, but it was interesting. I feel like some of the stuff they put in the show is just superfluous and Piper’s (Taylor Schilling) story has really gone down hill. I honestly enjoy it to see the back stories of many of the inmates. I like seeing how they grew up as kids and what they did to get put in jail. I did not like the whole story of Norma (Annie Golden) and how they portrayed her like she was a spiritual guru who could heal people (that was just dumb). I did like the new girl on the show Stella (Ruby Rose), she’s pretty with tons of tattoos and totally looks like a hot lesbian. She fits in with the idea of the show. I also like the addition of Lori Petty as an inmate. She plays a good weirdo. Remember when she was totally the it girl in the 90’s?
I liked that they went a little deeper with Tiffany Doggett’s (Taryn Manning) storyline, which had more depth to it then some of the other ones. I wish they would up the violence and grittiness of prison life, instead it makes prison look like a fun camp. You get to hang out with friends, get an easy job, make a few phone calls, flirt with cute guards and just hang out. Anyone else agree that Litchfield prison does not look like a hard time at all?
If you watch it, you should really play this drinking game. I bet you will get very drunk!

Baller!!! I’m glad you’re feeling better (and your mom). Great post!!
HAHAH I like Pensatucky more than Piper too!
Thanks Eric aka the Senior Baller in charge around here. I appreciate the kind words!! Seriously Pensatucky has gotten way more interesting than lame ass Piper!!
No shit!!
Hell yeah Baller!
Welcome back, Melissa! Happy to hear that things are going better with you & with your mom – sorry you’ve had a rough time of it. We understand – we’ll always be here! 🙂 As for these shows, I’ve not watched any (except the first episode of Orange Is The New Black) but I like the sound of Wayward Pines. Will check it out at some point. And thanks for that puppy pic!!! OMG! ADORABLE!!!!!!!! I want to hug him. 🙂
Thanks Mutant!! Thank you for your kind thoughts. These past couple of months have been so shitty and now things are starting to look up. Finally!! Wayward Pines is interesting you might like it. When I put that puppy pic I totally thought of you. How cute is he!
Thanks for all the cute puppy pics. They always cheer me up! I checked & Wayward Pines is available On Demand here. Will try to find the time to check it out! 🙂
Yeah check it out, it’s definitely different! I mentioned to someone else, not the best show out there, but worth a watch if you’re bored one day. 🙂 haha
I’ll watch while tweeting or blogging 😉
I only got a few episodes into season three of Orange so far. Just not that into it this season.
Be well.
J
Yeah I felt off and on about it too. Thanks J!
Sorry to hear you haven’t been well. It is good to have you back! I have to agree that Piper is the least interesting thing about OITNB.
Thanks Abbi! Yes she is VERY boring!! They just need to kick her out of jail.
So sorry to hear about everything that’s been going on with you lately, that sucks. But good news that they’ve figured out what’s wrong and your mom can start treatment! I hope everything works out for you both, stay strong 🙂
Thanks Miss Smashley appreciate it. Love the support. 🙂
Hi Mel, glad to hear you and your mom is well – here is wishing you healthy (and happy) days ahead. About your June favourites, this is embarrassing, but I haven’t seen any of those!! Although, my family is weirdly hooked on Wayward Pines lol so I maybe gotta check that one out. Take care! 🙂
Hey Mesh, thank you for the good words. 🙂 I need to go check on your blog and catch up. Oh so many shows so little time. Yes Wayward Pines is interesting, you might like it. Although, I honestly don’t think it is the best show out there.
Awww Melissa I’m so glad you’re back! And I’m glad things are starting to look up for you and your mum. Never leave me again!
I agree about this season of Orange Is the new Black. It didn’t really go anywhere. However one character I think came off really well was Caputo. He actually had a really good story arc
Thanks Mikey!!!!!!!!! Aww see you are the nicest person ever. 🙂 Never ever!!! Glad to hear you are alive from all the drinking this past weekend. haha. Agreed, and you know what I forgot to mention Caputo, he really was one of the best characters of the season.
I’m glad to hear that both yourself and your mum are feeling better! 🙂 Sometimes life’s setbacks can be pretty disorientating, so glad to hear that you are both back on track!
I watched all of OITNB the other day and I enjoyed it, but you’re right, it just didn’t feel as punchy as the other seasons. Plus it really does look like a fun girl scout camp for ladies rather than an actual prison. I’m really loving Hannibal though, I heard that it actually did get cancelled! I hope it comes back! 😦
Thank you so much Anna! I appreciate the kind words. I have missed our GOT talks. I need to go to your site and catch up so if you get some GOT comments bear with me. haha. Right, OITNB prison looks so much fun. Let’s go so we can hang out and watch movies and shows in their TV room. LOL. I really hope they bring Hannibal back though. They are going to be at comic con, it will be interesting to see the fan’s reactions to it. 🙂
Glad to have you back Melissa! The best thing about blogging is that we know that we’ll come back to a great support system when we’re ready for it 🙂 Glad to know that you’re feeling better. Looking forward to reading more of your posts!
I finished OITNB Season 3 also. It wasn’t OMG, you got that right but I’m definitely liking the back stories and I do like Pennsatucky more. And I hope that Ruby Rose will be back…she’s a great character.
Thank you Kim, just getting back on here, I was gone for a few days. I really appreciate the support. It’s good to know that even though all us bloggers cant see each other, we can still support one another. Yeah seriously I hope they bring Ruby Rose back, she was so good!
